An interactive workshop looking at the legal and practical issues which arise when an employee is off on long term sick or has poor attendance because of an underlying medical problem. What practical steps can be taken to resolve the situation? How does expert occupational health support fit into the picture? What are risks of taking action, or doing nothing? How far do you have to go when it comes to reasonable adjustments?

This course will help you to:-

  • Deal appropriately with employees on long term sick, including looking at adjustments to their current role;
  • Understand the applicability of the Equality Act 2010 and the risks involved with dismissal;
  • Draft appropriate questions for medical professionals to consider when producing a report on an employee;
  • Identify the required elements of a fair and lawful dismissal for employees on long term sick.

This course is aimed at HR professionals or anyone who deals with managing absence within their organisation.
